U2 have been forced to pull out of this years Glastonbury music festival as lead singer Bono recovers from emergency surgery on his back to prevent possible paralysis. The Irish front man was injured whilst training for the rock group’s performance at Glastonbury and the US leg of their 360° world tour.
Bono was reported to have had a ‘severe compression of the sciatic nerve’ which lead to ‘partial paralysis of the left leg’. He was treated by neurosurgeon Joerg Tonn in Munich, who told the BBC, ‘the surgery was the only course of treatment for full recovery and to avoid further paralysis’.
The singer must now recuperate for the next two months, forcing the cancellation of their scheduled performance at Glastonbury and the 16 date US tour due to start in June.
