1. Enrique's father is prolific international icon Julio Inglesias, a Spanish singer who has sold over 300 million albums worldwide and released 77 albums in 14 languages.

2. Enrique's stage singing debut came in his primary school's production of 'Hello Dolly'.

3. Strangely, at the age of 35, Enrique has a 6 year old uncle and a 4 year old aunt. This is due to his late grandfather, Dr. Julio Iglesias Snr., becoming a father at the age of 89 in 2004 and again shortly after his death in 2005.

4. When sending out demo tapes to record labels, Enrique's manager insisted on changing his name to Enrique Martinez as he didn't want Enrique to get a record deal because of his famous father.

5. Before releasing his first English language album, 'Enrique' in 1999, Enrique had already established himself as a star in the Latin market, with three Spanish language albums selling over 10 million copies worldwide.

6. The songwriting team behind Enrique's 1999 global hit 'Bailamos' were also responsible for Cher's 1998 auto-tune laced chart topping disco anthem 'Believe'.

7. Enrique's biggest record to date, 'Escape' was the second best selling album of 2002 in the United Kingdom, behind Robbie Williams' 'Escapology'. Lead single 'Hero' sold nearly 850,000 copies in the UK, making it the 17th best selling single of the 2000s, sadly behind such luminary musical talents as Shayne Ward, Bob the Builder, Hear'Say, Atomic Kitten and Tony Christie.

8. In 2007, in the same week as playing the Live Earth shows, Enrique became the first western artist in 30 years to perform in Syria when he played to 10,000 people in the capital, Damascus.

9. Enrique has stated that his favourite movie is the first Indiana Jones film, 1981's 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'. Bizarrely a quick game of Six Degrees of Separation reveals that Enrique is fairly closely tied to his favourite film: he starred alongside Johnny Depp in 'Once Upon a Time in Mexico', and Depp was in 'Chocolat' with Alfred Molina, who played Satipo in 'Raiders'.

10. A fanatical football fan, Enrique is a keen supporter of the Spanish national side and performed at the closing ceremony of the 2008 European Championships, in which Spain were victorious. His father Julio was also a football fanatic, and had a promising career as a goalkeeper with Real Madrid halted by a car crash in 1963.
