2. Other venues for the festival over the years have included The Black Mountains in Wales, Larmer Tree Gardens in Wiltshire and its current home of Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire.
3. During the year, the current festival site is used as a deer reserve.
4. Some of the biggest names to have made breakthrough appearances at the festival include Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, Goldfrapp, Zero 7, Royksopp and Lemon Jelly.
5. The festival rights were purchased in October 2009 by Festival Republic, making the event a sister festival of Glastonbury, Latitude, Reading and Leeds.
6. Whilst Katrina Lawrence still runs the festival, fellow co-founder Peter Lawrence has recently stepped down to concentrate on his musical project, ‘Chilled by Nature’.
7. As well as the festival, the Big Chill family also incorporates London venue the Big Chill House, the Big Chill bar in Bristol, and a record label, of no fixed address, representing artists such as Sneaky and Eva Abraham.
8. There isn’t only music at the Big Chill; you can see dance, film, art and comedy at the Big Chill. Recent acts who’ve lit up the Big Chill comedy stage include the Mighty Boosh, Russell Howard and Bill Bailey.
9. The Big Chill is also the name of a 1983 movie starring Glenn Close and Jeff Goldblum.
10. Cheerfully, The Big Chill is also a charming sounding scientific theory to explain the end of the universe. But don’t worry, that’s not until 2012.
